Siskiyou Spay Neuter Incentive Program

The Siskiyou Spay Neuter Program (SNIP) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization formed to help end dog and cat overpopulation in Siskiyou County through education, support and need-based financial assistance to pet owners to help spay and neuter their companion animals. Our concern and empathy for homeless and euthanized dogs and cats (the consequence of overpopulation) provides us with the motivation for our programs and actions.

In the late 1990's, each year 900 homeless and unwanted dogs (this figure does not include cats) were euthanized in Siskiyou County. Our spay and neuter program along with the work of other groups has significantly reduced this number and has reduced a many unwanted dogs and cats left homeless wandering the streets facing starvation, disease and other hardships.

As of April 2010, through the efforts of our wonderful volunteers and generous donors we have raised over $250,000 to spay and neuter over 3,300 dogs and 2,300 cats in the county. One can only imagine the fate of the thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens that would have been produced if the Siskiyou Spay Neuter Program had not taken action to help spay and neuter these dogs and cats.

Even the smallest act on your part could make the difference by enabling us to spay or neuter one more dog or cat in Siskiyou County. We serve the residents of Dunsmuir, McCloud, Mt. Shasta, Weed, Yreka and all of the other communities in Siskiyou County.
